T. Borgogelli
– "Di pittura buonissima del fiammingo". Luigi Gentile for Matelica
The article focuses on the attribution to
Louis Cousin, better known as Luigi Gentile or Luigi Primo Gentile, of an
altarpiece from the Cathedral of Matelica and now in
the Piersanti Museum: a painting formerly attributed to the painter Pasqualino
Rossi but referred to in an inventory of the Cathedral of Matelica
as "Di pittura buonissima
del fiammingo"; a mention that allowed it to be reattributed
to the Flemish painter and in particular to his stay in the Marche.
